Why You're Paying to Learn
This isn't traditional volunteering where your time is the contribution.
Nonprofit partners are compensated for their time and expertise in coordinating experiences and supporting community members.
Community members may receive a small thank you gift for their time as teachers—because their knowledge, experience, and humanity have value.
We invest in:
Payment for the time and expertise of the nonprofit and community members
Materials and supplies
Facilitation by trained staff
Careful experience design
Pre and post-reflection
Safety and coordination
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. All experiences are facilitated by trained staff. Community members are carefully prepared. We create boundaries that feel respectful to everyone involved. These are structured learning experiences, not drop-in volunteering.
-
Field trips observe. KinCorps experiences engage. Your child isn't touring a facility or watching presentations. They're sitting across from someone, learning a skill, sharing food, asking questions, building connection.
-
Perfect. That means they're really thinking. Questions during the experience can be addressed in our facilitated post-reflection. Staff help everyone process together. Plus, the experience gives your family plenty to talk about on the drive home and for days after.
-
Absolutely. This is genuinely reciprocal. Community members step into the valued role of teacher and expert, share their knowledge and culture, meet new people and build relationships with people from different backgrounds, and get seen as whole people with valuable perspectives. Relationship-building works both ways.
