Our Place Mission: To support the healthy development of youth and families using a humanistic, family-centered, and research-based approach.

What to Expect: Parents and children will connect with children in grades 2-6 from different parts of the world who have resettled in Maine and attend the afterschool program at Our Place. Through shared art activities, including painting, podcasting, and card-making, your children can learn about and share what they feel grateful for. This facilitated experience includes time for pre-reflection, authentic interaction, and post-reflection processing. Parents attend with their children.

Perfect For: Families with children in grades 1-6 who want to build connections with children from different parts of the world who have resettled in Maine.

Capacity: Only space for 3 families (1 parent and child) left!

Family Promise Mission: Help families experiencing homelessness and low-income families achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response.

Date: Saturday, December 13, 2025
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Location: Portland, Maine (exact location shared after registration)

Pricing: $45.00 per person (What am I paying for?)

What to Expect: Spend time with families connected to Family Promise, including families who have recently settled in Maine from many other parts of the world. Learn to make a traditional African-beaded necklace, try some African drumming, and connect over snacks from around the world. This extended experience includes facilitated pre-reflection, shared activities, and post-reflection. Parents attend with their children.

Perfect For: Families with children ages 5-13 ready to meet and connect with families from other parts of the world who are new to Maine.

Capacity: 10-12 families (up to 25 total participants) 1-2 parents + children welcome. Limited spots available.

What Happens When You Register

Complete the registration form, waiver and receive confirmation.

Pre-Reflection Materials

We'll send preparation materials 1 week before the experience to help your family get ready.

Join the Experience

Arrive at the location (address shared via email) and participate in this meaningful experience.

Before You Register

  • Your registration fee covers facilitation by trained staff, all materials and supplies, pre-reflection preparation materials, the experience itself, and post-reflection processing. A portion of your fee supports our nonprofit partner and may provide thank you gifts for community members.

  • Cancellations must be made at least 72 business hours (3 business days) in advance. Please email info@kin-corps.org as soon as possible. We'll do our best to fill your spot and process a refund, but refunds may not be possible if we cannot fill your spot before the experience.

  • Due to space limitations, only two children from each family can register for each experience for now.

  • Come comfortable and ready to engage! Specific guidance will be included in your pre-reflection materials sent the week before your experience.

  • These experiences are designed for children ages 5-13 with parent participation. If your child is outside this age range, please contact us to discuss whether this experience would be a good fit.
